Wordless {Wordful} Wednesday

He is fearless, funny, sassy, independent, adventurous, and my little dare devil.  In a blink of an eye Gabriel climbed up these rocks while Mr. May and I were discussing where to go for lunch.

This is what happens when you take my fearless, funny, sassy, independent, adventurous, little dare devil away from his rock.  Even if in 15 minutes he is about to have a fabulous lunch at Mellow Mushroom.  He wants to be back on top of that rock being King over Mr. May and I.

That is why for the month of April, I have joined with this fabulous blog.........

We have decided to take the challenge of getting outside, everyday, for at least 30 minutes.  I know my little dare devil needs it.  More importantly, my inner dare devil needs to get out and climb those rocks again!

**Thank You to This American Momma for posting about this challenge and giving the link for our family and hopefully many other families to join Can You Come Outisde To Play Blog**

HH6 - March Challenge

I finally get to post my first HH6 Cooking challenge!  This month we were to create a dish (main, side, dessert, whatever of our chosing) for an MRE.  Thank goodness we did not have to worry about how to dry, freeze, vacuum seal, etc for this challenge.  We just had to create an MRE that we would want to eat.  However, before I share my MRE recipe, allow me to give you a quick back ground on what exactly is an MRE for non military people.

MRE -
Meal, ready to eat......aka.....tastes like brunt cardboard to the average person.  When you are out in the field and need an MRE to survive, it is a Medium Rare, Grilled to Perfection, 12oz Poterhouse Steak.  Okay more like burnt leather but hey the power of imagination is truly powerful!

Shoot....to be fair, Mr. May did tell me some of the MREs are tasteful and some are worth their weight in gold when it comes to "trading" whats in the MRE packages.  Anywho for the true meaning of MRE click HERE.

I have never tried an MRE.  I have seen them growing up as a Air Force Brat.  Now as an Air Force Wife I even have one or two in the closet from some training Mr. May had.  When the challenge came in I immediately sent an email to my cousin (proudly serving in the USAF), my dad (proudly retired from the USAF after 28 years of service), and my fabulous husband (proudly serving in the USAF). Responses were great, comical, and many recipe ideas were flying!

Things such as, homemade french fries, milk shake, pizza, steak, with most popular, anything of "Mom's Cooking".  I finally decided on a dish for Mr. May and went to make it one Saturday afternoon, till I made his favorite breakfast dish.  When I turned to see his eyes closed, slight moan of goodness, and him telling me "man this is just heaven", a bell went off in my head.  This would be the MRE.  Especially if it could bring a slice of Heaven while our men and women are fighting for our Country's Freedom miles upon miles away from home!

March's Challenge - MRE

Up and running with technology

It has been almost a month since I have laid my fingers on an actual key board.  Part of me has missed it majorly and the other part of me feels like I went through a detox and came out on top.  I have been using the iPad for FB, some email checking, but I am still trying to decide if I like the iPad or not.  I LOVE it for recipes while I am in the kitchen or listening to music through out the day.

None the less, our lap top is fried.  It would cost more than what it is worth at this time to fix it so we decided not to fix it.  I am saving money to buy a Mac and want to pay cash for it.  Till then we decided to get the old-timer desk top of boxes from the garage.

I am hoping to get back on track with Bloggin tomorrow, check and respond to many important emails, delete many emails and just reply with a phone call, and lastly, continue with my technology detox and stick with what is important.....family, cooking, crafts, exploring NC, and reading!

Hope you all had a fabulous weekend and really great month!  I am off to download pictures from my two cameras....last count was over 500 pictures........

A lot of reading has been going on in this house
lately.....

Still no luck

Laptop is back from Geek Squad. They managed to get ALL my pictures, recipes, documents, etc off the computer and stored onto an external hard drive. But that was it. Nothing else is working. So last result is for Nathan to take it to work and hope some fabulous Geek squad people there can restore it.

Now I know with everything that is going on in the world right now, not having a laptop or computer is silly to complain about. But I have over 400 pictures that I would love to unload from my two cameras. Recipes and projects I would love to share. Not to mention Gabriel has not webcammed with his DeeDee and Papa in a few weeks. The poor kid finally had a break down about this....a very sad break down.

Till I have a computer again I'm taking notes and trying to become friends with the iPad. I've come to realize that I am old school when it comes to certain things and using a computer :)

We are still praying for the people of Japan and all the countries who are flying or sailing in to help Japan. It is heart breaking to watch but I know they will come back from this!

Technology......

My laptop is with the Geek squad trying to be repaired. Basically it is fried with many many viruses :( Fingers crossed they can repair it and get everything off my computer. Yes horrible I know since I hadn't backed everything yet. I use Shutterfly to upload all my pictures and the documents were being saved to thumb drives or slowly printed out. However many have not be backed up and hope not all is loss. We have plans to buy a new computer but wanted to wait to pay cash.

This also means until computer is fixed my Blogging abilities are limited at this time. I am using my iPad but Blogger and iPad are not user friendly. Hope to be back within a week. Have some great Dr Seuss, Mardi Gras, and St. Patrick's Day projects/recipes to share. Know the holidays are or will be over but can always store for next year!

Hope everyone has a Great Monday and Fabulous week!!

Wordless {Wordful} - Foto Wednesday

When you can do this.........

Your poor child needs a haircut.  Ever since the whole Joe Dirt/Billy Ray Cyrus incident, I can not get Gabriel's hair to lay/style correctly.  I think it is time for me to move on and find a short style that I like.  Happy Wednesday everyone!!

Gardening

March is here!!!  The weather is being its usual Bi-Polar self with all last week in the 80s to 50/60s this week.  However, the windows have been open and the smell of Spring is in the air.  I am ready to dig in the dirt with Gabriel and plant our mini garden of flowers, fruits, and veggies.  So ready to garden that I bought this beauty today..........

I am thinking some bright red flowers in the center surrounded by white blooms.  Our front yard needs some work but I really want to work on the eye sore known as our backyard.  I had Nathan bring the blue pot to the back and already I can see such a improvement!

Are you ready for Spring?  If so, share your ideas of how you plan to decorate your garden.  I am thinking about trying this cute and fun  POTS to the front yard.
