Fever Series - Book Review

Good vs. Evil, Human World vs. Fae World, Love, Lust, War, and man I didn't want this series to end.  Set to current day.  Our world is coming to an end as we know.  All because of the Unseelie unleashed into the human world.  If you like mystery, a book that keeps you guessing on who done it, whose next, will love bring them together or continue to tear them apart, and come magic filled with Irish folklore.....then this series is for you.  4 out of 5 stars is my rating.  It would get 5 out of 5 but language.  It is not overly horrible with language but the "F" word is used through out but I know about readers and the "F" word.

It kept me guessing through all 5 books and even down to the last pages, asking exactly "Who is MacKayla Lane"?  The Fever Series and one of the Highlander Series by Karen Marie Moning are the first I have read of Moning's.  I plan on checking out more of the Highlander Series and see if I like them as much as the fever series.

Enjoy and if you have read the Fever Series, what did you think?

Goodreads

Wanted to share a fabulous site for Book Lovers.  It is called Goodreads.  It is a free (truly love a freebie) site where you can keep track of books you want to, are, or have read.  It has been the best thing for me since I can never remember which book(s) I want to read.

I highly encourage you to hop on over to Goodreads and if you would like, request me as a friend.  Yep that is another positive about Goodreads, you can be friends with people to see what they are reading and click that book to your list of Read, To-Read, or Reading.  How else do we find books to read....by suggestions from fellow readers!

Happy Saturday and I am off to start a new book - The Other Life by Ellen Meister

Hunger Games (Series) - Book Review

**Warning** There may be spoilers in the comment section

This week/weekend I finished the Hunger Games Book Series.  I rate all three of the books 5 stars out of 5.  However, here it is 2 days later and I am still trying to figure out the ending of this series.  I am a loss for words of what exactly has me upset, sad, angry, and confused over these books.

The author has beautifully written the books in such a way that our minds get over the fact that the series is set 2050s (not so far off in some ways) and based upon Hunger Games.  Games where children fight to the death to bring food, money, and some would say, hope, to their "district".  All because there once was a time of the "Dark Days" were the Capitol was at war with the 13 Districts.  Hunger Games is a way to remind and instill fear in this new age society, that the Capitol owns them.

Yet even as I write this, I am not doing justice to the books.  All three are more than that.

So I am leaving it to my fellow followers of this Blog, to help me work through my thoughts and feelings of the books.  I am going to reread the last book, for it is the one that is leaving me the most confused.  As I am rereading the book tonight, I ask you, have you read it?  What are your thoughts on this book?  Lets have an open discussion, our virtual Book Club so to speak.

I also checked the cast list because the first book is being made into a movie.  For the role of Katniss it goes to Jennifer Lawrence.  Since I have not seen her role in Winter's Bone, I can't comment on how she will do as Katniss.  I agreed with one of the rumor mills that, Hailee Steinfeld, should have gotten the role of Katniss.  None the less I am very much looking forward to seeing the movie.  Just hope by then I will have a better understanding of how I feel about the book ;)

*Also, if you listen to the music by Adele, check out her new CD "21" track number 5.  I think it would be a fantastic song for Katniss in the Junger Games.  Song title is "Set Fire To The Rain"

The Lincoln Lawyer - Book Review

Somewhere I heard this book was being made into a movie.  I try to always read the book before I see the movie.  I like to compare the book vs. the movie and wonder just about every time why Hollywood can't make a movie like the books!

Okay back on track -

The Lincoln Lawyer - Michael Connelly
I was on the hunt for the book since, like I said, it is being made into a movie.  When I saw the cover with Matthew McConaughey (yes this man still looks good even though he doesn't wear deodorant) I knew I was buying it.  It is a really great read about murder, mystery, law and order (not SVU version), and who really done the crime?

It is about a Lawyer who works out of his Lincoln cars...a lot.  He takes on a case that looks like a fast open and shut case that will bring in the big bucks.  However, after the first couple of chapters we find this not to be true.  That is where many plots are formed and twists are given to us readers.  With many of the twists, I figured out but a couple I did not see.

This is the first book I have read by Michael Connelly (from what I can remember) and I do believe I will pick up some more of his.  4 out of 5 Stars!  Lets just hope the movie is as good.  For eye candy it already gets 5 out of 5 stars that's for sure ;)

Running Hot - Book Review

I love reading.  Love it over cooking, cleaning, exercising, and even would say breathing but I have to breath in order to read ;)  A couple of my friends have started posting their reviews on theirs Blogs about books they have read so I thought I would join in.  A couple of us are in the making of working out the details but we want to start a link up for our book reviews.  More to come on that when we have the kinks worked out.

Until then, I will post my reviews and if you have posted a review on your Blog, leave a comment with a link back to your Blog.

Running Hot - Jayne Ann Krentz
I ordered this book off Barnes-N-Nobles to get their 3 for $10 special.  Knew nothing of the title or author.  The book has danger, mystery, sex, love, and paranormal.  Over all it was a fun quick read.  I would put this as a Summer Read List.  It is also part of the Arcane Society Novel.  It has some good twist and turns but I would have liked the twist and turns to be a little bit deeper since I figured out a few of them right off the bat.  Overall good read - 3 out of 5 Stars.
