Gabriel and his love for lasagna

I have finally found a recipe for lasagna that my husband just LOVES!! I follow this recipe, The Pioneer Woman Cooks, except that I use shredded mozzarella. Not only does my hubby love this recipe but our son, Gabriel, does too!! Gabe is so much like his father that whatever I put in front of them to eat, they eat it all - sometimes they both forget to chew...not sure if its because I'm such a great cook or it they are just hungry but I like to think it's because of the first ;)

Yes underneath the orange face is my child

We think he suffered from a lasagna comma

So fresh and so clean after his bath
Other news, today is one of my nieces' 1st birthday!!! Happy Birthday Jordyn!!!!! It is times like these when I do not like being in the Air Force. Missing out on wonderful family celebrations makes my heart hurt. However, I will continue to love my neices and nephew from afar and look forward to pictures.
This is when I would like to have a pair of Ruby Red Slippers. Click my heals three time and and repeat, There is no place like home!

Lent.....40 Days

So I am not catholic and don't really have a certian religion. I do believe in God and try to be a Christian in his eyes. I have never really did Lent before but I thought I would give it a try this year. So for two days now I have givin up Sweets - brownie, cake, ice cream, cookies, candy, etc., Soda, and Fast Food - oh how I do miss Chick-Fil-A already!!

Now this being said, I have decided to alter what I am giving up. I am a HUGE sweet lovin person. I know that if I give up sweets for 40 days I will fail and then get upset about failing. So instead I am only going to allow myself one sweet a week. This is a huge thing for me because I truly could eat, sometimes do, every day/night. Now for the Soda no biggie. I used to enver drink Soda and somehow started drinking the stuff. After ready how horrible the diet and non-diet drinks are I am/will stop drinking soda. Fast Food another no biggie. I really only eat at Sonic, Chick-Fil-A, Tim Hortons, and Penn Station.

My goal is after 40 days I will be in my workout routine. Soda and Fast Food junk will be out of my system - except for an occassional treat to the above places. But most importantly, I would have calmed down my sweet tooth cravings to once a week and possibly even less.

See you guys on the flip sound! Pray for my husband and child as I win the battle of sweet cravings....gonna need Jesus big time ;)

When the Saints go marching....

They win their first EVER Super Bowl!!

We had a Mardi Gras Super Bowl party in honor of Mardi Gras and the Saints playing in the Super Bowl. Just so happened that Nathan's team was in the Super Bowl too - Colts. Now I like sports and really enjoy football but truly find it so boring to watch on TV. I prefer to watch just about any sport live, in action, and cheering with fans. This being said Super Bowl is really the only time of the year that I will actually watch Sports on TV. Well, besides the Olympics.

Super Bowl day came and Nathan and I had a discussion about who I "cheer" for. I say I cheer for the Chiefs because I was born in Kansas City but if I were to be honest, I probably should be cheering the Saints on. Especially since Louisiana is the state that I have lived the longest in my entire life. I mean I LOVE Louisiana - the food, culture, people, history, and the list goes on and on. However I just can't seem to say Who Dat or wear Black and Gold. So for now I say go Chiefs and even screamed it out once during the Super Bowl LOL!!!!

The party was amazing. Food was beyond delicious - Red Beans and Rice, Beignets, King Cakes (cherry and cream cheese), Jambalya, Natchitoches Meat Pies, and so much more. I am so thankful for all our friends who could come out and celebrate Louisiana, Mardi Gras, and the Super Bowl with us. I did feel bad for my hubby not being able to celebrate for his team on a victory but I was thrilled for Louisiana - Laissez Les Bon Temps Roulez

1st time to make meat pies - they were so good!!!
Do need to work on presentation though

It Showered

So our good friends the Walkers are having a baby girl!!! I was honored in throwing Shelly's baby shower and it turned out wonderful. Little back story is that I met Shelly throw my first Ohio friend - Terrell. Terrell has since moved to Guam (thanks to the AF) but there is not a day that goes by that I don't think of the Michael family. Especially since their son, Price, was Gabe's first friend!!

Shelly is super creative, talented, and just an amazing friend. Sometimes I don't think she realizes how wonderful she is but then again maybe that is part of her charm! We had about 15 ladies (how I wish we had an actual house) and they showered Shelly with some amazing gifts!

Now that the shower is over I am just sitting around waiting on Taylor to arrive!
